Semester 3: 0%

Next week marks the beginning of my Term 3. I have just collected my course materials for this term and was marking down the important dates on my calendar. A number of things will need to be completed on the first 2 weeks of December – 3 assignments due and 1 presentation. Looks like I won’t be able to enjoy my birthday this year. Gosh… I really need to plan ahead.

PCGHS Alumni?

Phaik Imm informed me that our high school has an alumni association in KL/Selangor! I browsed through the website for more info and they have being around for more than 30 years! The seniors in the photos (I believe) are as old as my mum or perhaps even older! I checked the activities list, they are quite active – karaoke, dinners, classes etc.

Foong Lian Claypot Chicken Rice

This restaurant at Jalan Yew was recommended by Anil. I like the “lak cheong” in the claypot chicken rice and its soup. It is really delicious. One small claypot chicken rice cost RM7.50.

Chilly Pan Mee

This place in Kota Damansara was recommended by CC sometime ago. Normally the shop is packed. The noodle is tasteless without the chilly. But, it tastes much nice after adding in the chilly.

Ketam Steamboat Seafood

This place in Bandar Menjalara was recommended by Jason. According to him, the Tomyam soup there is not bad. Well, it is much better compared to the other Tomyam that I have tasted in KL. We ordered the steamboat set for 2 pax and the portion was huge. The portion for 2 pax is actually recommended for 3 pax.


The kuih that the people are selling here is quite nice as well. A bit pricy though.

Farewells

There were quite a number of farewells for these few months – Edmond, Steve and Falah. All the best guys! On the other hand, there are a number of new faces as well.

Sakura @ Jalan Imbi

Sakura is not a Japanese restaurant but a Malaysian restaurant at Jalan Imbi, KL. This restaurant seemed to be one of the popular dining places for tour groups. It is famous for its Nasi Lemak and indeed, it was really nice and the portion was very huge. The environment and service was good too.

Of course, it comes with a price. After tax and service charge, the Nasi Lemak costs RM17.

p/s: I heard from my colleague that this restaurant is the parent company of Madam Kwan.

Kim Tek Bak Kuh Teh

Recently, YS introduced to me this Bak Kuh Teh shop at Kepong/Selayang. According to him, the Bak Kuh Teh here is very popular. Normally, it will be sold out before 12pm. Indeed, the meat is very tender.

MMU Convo

Recently, I attended the convocation of my 2 juniors, Lisa and Loo Mun. It had been a really long time since I met them and Lisa can’t recognize me at first. *sob sob* It was a nice hang out with some old friends and I met a few new people as well.

Puti Bongsu Batam

This restaurant near KLCC is serving Padang cuisine. Padang is a city in Indonesia.

The food is nice but not healthy. This restaurant is a bit pricy and the seafood dishes are extremely expensive. 1 sotong is RM5!

Pasta Zanmai

Pasta Zanmai is a restaurant selling Japanese-style pasta and assorted Japanese food. A friend of mine highly recommended this restaurant but I find the pasta so-so only. The assorted food is quite nice though.

This one is yummy. It's like a thin crust pizza with scallop.

Shanghai 10

I visited this restaurant sometime ago with my colleagues for lunch. At that time, there was a buy 1 free 1 promotion for siu long bao. The food there is okay and a bit pricy. For the taste, I still prefer Dragon-i.

Semester 2: >50%

Currently I am half-way through my second semester. There are a lot of readings for this semester. For the past few weeks, I had been reading and writing a lot. I was introduced to Harvard Business Review (HBR) for my reading materials and I find them very information.

Restaurant 88

This place in Aman Suria is recommended by CC. The food is okay and it is quite cheap. We ordered 1 Fish Head Noodle, 1 Fried Bee Hoon, 1 Claypot Tofu and 2 Herbal Tea. All in is around RM21. The Fish Head Noodle portion is super huge (even though it is ‘small’). But, suprisingly the Claypot Tofu is a bit small.

Ring Zhi Vegetarian Restaurant

Ring Zhi Vegetarian Restaurant is located in Kepong, one of the shops opposite Jaya Jusco. There is a lot of variety for vegetarian food and it is quite nice. A bit pricy though.

Dim Dim Yuen

Last Friday, I met my ex-colleagues at Dim Dim Yuen, Transfer Road, Penang for dinner. The place is right beside Caltex at Transfer Road. The shop is a normal kopithiam, selling western food. It seems that they have just renovated the place. The price is reasonable. I ordered a Garlic Fish for RM8 (it also comes with a piece of garlic bread).

Semester 2: 0%

Time flies. Today marks the beginning of my 2nd semester. The subjects for this semester seem to be more interesting and not so technical. I browsed through the study materials last night and thank god, they are not as thick as last semester’s!

Malacca 1 Day Trip

I have not visited MMU or Malacca ever since I graduated a few years ago. I still remember the good old days, indulging myself with my favorite “Cendol” in Jonker Street or when we squeeze ourselves in one car for “Satay Celup”.

The area around the campus is well developed now. But, the campus itself is poorly maintain, in which my friends and I are quite upset about. The campus back in our days was very new and nice (at least it looked much better back then). It was not repainted at all ever since we graduated (judgement based on the outlooks). In addition, the facilities are poorly maintain - chairs with ugly labels, tutorial rooms with ugly looking and non-standardized locks etc. In addition, we noticed large, visible rubbish everywhere. OMG, can’t students nowadays be a bit more concern about the cleanliness of their campus or the cleaner is not doing their job properly? What has happen?

My juniors also mentioned that students nowadays are not active in club activities. There are not many events around the campus. The campus is basically quite death. I still remember the good old days, whenever it comes to club registration week, CLC concourse will be packed with students and everyone will be discussing which clubs they’ll be joining and so on. I guess, we won’t see this anymore nowadays.

Okay, let’s focus on the brighter side now. The Malacca town looks nicer now. The ugly and polluted river beside Jonker Street had transformed into a tourist spot. Not to mention, a nice gathering with some of my coursemates - AC, Danny, Daniel, Teck Yong, Sylvia and Jin.

Daniel just found a new promosing job at T-systems! Congratulations!
