Indulge

Yesterday, I had visited this new restaurant in Tropicana City Mall with Chris. The design of the shop is simple and pleasing. However, the price is more expensive than an average restaurant. I ordered a plate of Olio-olio pasta for RM18.00 and the portion is considerably small. I wouldn’t say that it’s tasty but eatable. Chris ordered a Smoke Salmon Pasta for RM22.00. The sauce is very mild. Even though there is a 15% discount for all food, there is no credit card service at that point of time. The food serving is quite slow. The restaurant is not big and there weren’t many customers at that time. Yet, we need to wait for more than half an hour for the food.

DOC Photo Day

This is a special day in which all the teams will be wearing their respective T-shirts (special T-shirt with different colours for each team) to take photographs. Our director had specially hired a professional photographer to setup the classical studio settings for photo shooting. Our beloved pantry had turned into a mini “photo studio” for a few hours. Everyone took turns to take the photos in a small group.

Initially, I thought that it’s going to a boring session where everyone is going to wear the special T-shirts and pose “cheese” for the photo shooting. But it all turned out to be a grand, professional and fun session. We had fun with the ladder, boxes, yoga balls and the safety helmets (though it is a bit dangerous at times). We even have a buffet dinner and mini karaoke session in the office after that. Unfortunately, I still have to work after the dinner.

Sunrise Duck Rice

Jason recommended to me Sunrise Duck Rice (in SS2x, Taman Paramount area) as we passed by the shop for lunch last year. He told me that it finishes quite fast. But, I only visited the shop last 2 weeks ago with CC. When we arrived, there was a small crowd waiting outside of the shop. We waited for half an hour before seated. The shop is not that big, old and stuffy. Yet, there are a lot of customers. The business hours are from 11.30am until finish.

The taste is okay. It’s nicer if you dip the meat with the sauce. Personally, I still preferred the Lunas Duck or the Yunnan Duck.

Ice-ice Baby

I have heard of this place long before that. At that time, they had a shop in Penang island but now, it was closed down. During my outing with my ex-colleagues a few weeks ago, we visited Ice-ice Baby in Auto City, Seberang Perai. As the name implies, it sells a variety of desserts and food. I didn’t try the food there, but the desserts are nice :)

Ah Keat Seafood

During my “balik kampung” trip in April, I had visited Ah Keat Seafood, which is located at Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth with my ex-colleagues. Based on the information provided by Huey Sze, it was good.

Overall, the food there is okay. The salty duck egg crab there is nice. Some of the food was a bit sweet (sugar seems to be cheap over there). The portion is huge and the price is quite cheap (except for the crab, around RM30 each)! With the amount of food we ordered, it's only RM20+ per pax.

Gatherings

Recently, I met up with quite a number of old friends. It’s nice to meet them and talked about old times. Many of us have our own plans and some of them are still looking for one. Some thought of changing fields, some thought of studying, some thought of changing jobs, some thought of doing business and some still the same. Everyone is moving on at their own pace.

Amanah Saham – Bad Experience

Last Monday, I woke up early to top up my Wawasan 2020 account. Maybank in Damansara Uptown opens at 9.15am and I reached there at 9.30am. Wow, there were so many people, from young to old! I got the number 160+! The waiting area was so crowded that there was no place to sit. There was only 1 miserable queue for top-up and another one for opening a new account. I met my coursemate on the way back. It was such a surprise! Even though I don’t know his name, meeting someone familiar felt so good.

After that, I went to another bank in the Curve. I got the number 94. Even though they have 2 queues for top-up, it was like ages. I went home and then came back at 1am. The units were all taken!

I would say that it was a worthless effort. Next time, either I am going to be there super early or never!

Chili's

Recently, I made my first visit to Chili’s. I have heard a lot about this restaurant from my friends but I have never being there.

The portion is huge and quality food is served. It’s suitable for sharing (2 pax). The 2 dishes that I have tried so far are quite nice.

Restaurants: Degrading Quality

During the times of economy crisis, I noticed that some restaurants in the effort of cutting cost, has degraded their food quality. My recent visit to some of my favourite restaurants below has been disappointing:

1. Momo Japanese Restaurant @ Centre Point, BU
2. Uno Pizza @ Centre Point, BU
3. Ichiban Boshi @ Pavilion

The quantity is a bit less and the taste is a bit out for Momo Japanese Restaurant. As for Uno Pizza, I noticed that the quantity has decreased as well. As for Ichiban Boshi, they no longer served free warm water and I noticed that there’s some decreased in the food quality. The salmon skin appetizer in the set has been replaced by some tasteless little crackers. The dessert shown in the menu is orange, but they always serve with watermelon. They told me that the oranges are out of stock for all my recent visits.

I wonder if everyone has this same experience when visiting their favourite restaurants? Or it’s just a coincidence that they served me poorer quality of food…

Kampong Claypot Loh See Fun

This claypot loh see fun shop in TTDI is highly recommended by a friend. We went there during lunch time and it was almost full! Of course, the customers there all ordered claypot loh see fun. A medium one is suitable for 2 pax.

Wong Poh

I would like to recommend a seafood restaurant for crab at Aman Suria – Wong Poh. This restaurant sells a variety of crab. The highly recommended dish there is its butter crab. I have tried other varieties such as sweet and sour crab and marmite crab. They taste normal though.

Ichiban Boshi

Recently, Ichiban Boshi at Pavilion has a new set meal for RM 17.90 (excluding tax and service charge) – fried chicken, fruits, miso soup, appetizer (salmon skin), combination of mushrooms, egg and tofu, and rice. It’s nice and the portion is huge!

Full House

Recently I found this cute café/restaurant called Full House in Niu Ze Xui @ Ara Damansara. The concept is Korean-based. The shop consists of 2 levels and the decoration is quite unique. They even have their own mascots! They also sell some decorative items and clothes there. However, the food is so-so only.
