The Germans' welcoming party & Merdeka

August 29, Monday - The Germans were having a welcoming party for themselves(sounds weird eh..). As usual, we were having potato chips, beer and soju. There are actually more than 9 new Germans in the dormitory now. Suddenly there are so many names that need to be remembered. There are 2 Patrick(s), 2 Marcus(s) and 2 Eva(s). The girls’ names are almost the same - Anya, Tanya and Fenya. Germans pronounce their names differently. For example, Patrick, normally we pronounce it as “pe-trick”. However, they pronounce it as “pa-trick”. Eva is pronounced as “if-fa” instead of “e-va”.

August 30, Tuesday – We decided to cook dinner for that day without remembering that tomorrow is our independence day, Merdeka! We had bulgogi(beef) and cabbage for the dishes. Our senior, Wei Shi was especially kind on that day, maybe because of the Merdeka mood. He contributed a can of his sardines for dinner, a big bottle of Sunkish orange juice and ice-creams after dinner. Well, I guess it is a small celebration without any fireworks or grand sale. Min Ho oppa called me up on the same night telling me that the lab is ready and I can go there starting from Wednesday. Ah… my plan of staying up late was ruined. Thus, there was no countdown as well.

August 31, Wednesday – I arrived at the lab at 8.50am because Min Ho oppa asked me to come at this time. It is quite early for me as I am used to getting up late now. It’s been 3 weeks since I go to lab for work :P I wonder if we are going to have any Merdeka celebration tonight.

p/s: there is something wrong with my blog's display in IE(Internet Explorer) recently. It looks perfectly okay in other browsers such as Opera and Mozilla though.
