Gwangan Bridge & Gwangalli Beach

August 21, Sunday – Today’s weather was very good. The sky was clear the wind was gentle and the sunlight was warm. We were not even sweating when walking under the sun at 12pm. I woke up at around 11.30am and went to Gwangalli Beach with Eileen at around 12+pm.

We took bus no. 31 from Naengjeong. We realized that the bus was heading towards the wrong direction. Thus, we stepped down from the bus as we reached BEXCO. BEXCO is an abbreviation of Busan Exhibition Convegence Center. It is a very huge exhibition center with many halls. Coincidently, a cosplay activitiy was held there. There were many cosplayers and visitors. Homeplus, a shopping complex located just opposite BEXCO, was also very crowded. I was able to see Cardcaptor Sakura, Inuyasha, Naruto etc characters. There were elementary school kids cosplaying as well! It was a bit cloudy at that time.

We had lunch at Lotteria, a fast food restaurant near BEXCO. We ordered set meals at 3,200 won each. I ordered the Teri burger set while Eileen ordered the Cheese burger set. The burger tasted like Bulgogi burger (beef burger). It was delicious!

After lunch, we walked towards Gwangalli Beach’s directions. We visited the Olympic Park on our way there. There were many weird statues. Busan Art Museum was just beside it. However, we did not enter as we were in a rush. It was a long way to Gwangalli Beach by foot. We came across many flyovers and bridges as we reached a junction. I guess they were connected to Gwangan Bridge. The view was quite nice from there, with the sea, the sky and flyovers. We saw many people fishing underneath one of the flyovers, mainly senior citizens.

There were no signboards on the directions to Gwangalli Beach after we walked over the bridge. We saw a theme park on the way and headed there. We found Millak Water Front Park and Millak Sliced Raw Fish Center, which was located nearby. They were located next to each other. We were able to see Gwangan Bridge clearly from there. The best view! There were many seagulls flying around in circles there, like eagles. Maybe it is because of the fish center.

Gwangalli Beach is actually located very near to the fish center, easily reachable if by foot. There were not many people on the beach as Haeundae. There was a basketball event held there. It was rather small compared to the games competition at Haeundae.

We had ice-cream at Baskin Robbins with the view of Gwangan Bridge. I ordered the Musk Melon cone while Eileen ordered the “Love Me” cone. Mine tasted almost like honey drew. Eileen’s one was rather colorful – purple, red and white. It cost 2,000 won each for an ice-cream cone. The varities of ice-cream there was slightly different from in Malaysia. We saw 2 Snow Whites and Peter Pans as we enjoying the ice-cream in the shop.

After that, we took the subway back to Naengjeong. That was all for today! ^^
