Monday, June 27 – I was surprised that Daniel, Kim’s friend stayed in the lab for so long for the first time. Later, I got to know that he is a Master student under my professor and also Kim’s junior. His Korean age is 28 years old.
Daniel and my labmate, Kay joined me and BJun for dinner at night. I was surprised when he told me that we were going to have dinner at the sky lounge, Millennium building. He said that he would pay for it. I am very curious as the canteen only accepts coupons and not cash. Normally, only professors have those coupons. During dinner, we had a small chat. He actually knows my senior, Julie, who did her industrial training under Professor Lee as well. Daniel just quit his job in the sales. As he was working before that, I seldom saw him in the lab and always thought that he was Kim’s friend, hanging around in the lab. He also works in DSU as a lecturer for CCNA course. I guess that was how he got those coupons.
Tuesday, June 28 – Kim told me that our lab is going to have a seminar, Master students and undergraduate students will have to present. Looks like Daniel is going to be the next lab boss after Kim go to Malaysia this coming July. Kim is going to depart on July 11, Monday.
I was shocked when he told me that our lab was going to have new people coming in. Shortly after that, I saw a very tall guy, bringing in his gigantic, server casing CPU and 17” LG monitor. I noticed that he is even taller than the lab’s door and need to lower his body a bit as he enters the room. I wanted to greet him but his weird appearance made me want to keep quiet and observed. This day, for the first time, I talked to my another onni (female senior), Yong-Sil. She is actually the same age as us. Before that, I seldom saw her and she seemed to be very busy. Around 7pm, Kay asked if I want to join them for dinner. He told me that they were going to have Chinese noodles, but it cost 3, 500 won. It was rather expensive for me, so I told him that I will take my dinner outside. Suddenly, he told me that my labmates will give me a treat.
It was a delivery and the food arrived very fast. Well, those noodles were actually Korean noodles. The noodles were not fine and the servings were a lot. The sauce for the noodle was of the size of a normal Chinese rice-bowl. The ingredients of the sauce were oyster sauce and lots of small pieces of onion. They poured the sauce into the noodle and mixed it like rojak. It was a normal way to eat like that. They like to mix everything together. There was a plate of mandu as well. The food was not spicy or sour at all. After dinner, they treated me for a drink.
